Statement in Solidarity with Brother Sami Hamdi
86 Longbridge Road, Barking, IG11 8SF | www.darulihsaanbarking.org.ukOfficial Statement from Darul Ihsaan Barking
**
We were privileged to host Brother Sami Hamdi, the respected British journalist and political analyst, at Darul Ihsaan Barking. It has therefore been particularly distressing for our community to learn of his arbitrary detention by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at San Francisco International Airport on 26 October 2025.
Brother Sami entered the United States on a valid visa and was travelling between lawful speaking engagements when his visa was abruptly revoked. He remains detained at Golden State Annex in California. It is widely understood that this action stems directly from his courageous and consistent support for the Palestinian people and his condemnation of Israel’s repeated aggression against a civilian population.
We affirm that standing with the oppressed people of Palestine and speaking out against injustice is not a crime, it is a moral obligation for all who value justice, human dignity, and the sanctity of innocent life.
We strongly condemn this politically motivated assault by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and ICE on freedom of speech. Silencing a British citizen for upholding truth and conscience undermines universal human rights and sets a perilous precedent.
Darul Ihsaan Barking stands in full solidarity with Brother Sami and his family. We urge:
- The UK Government to urgently secure formal consular access, demand full transparency from U.S. authorities, and ensure Brother Sami’s safe and immediate return.
- The global Muslim community to raise this injustice through lawful advocacy and to make sincere dua for Brother Sami’s swift release, strength for his family, and divine protection.
Freedom of expression must never be sacrificed to political pressure. We pray that justice prevails.
Signed,
Imam & Management Committee
